Release tension & boost confidence: Lion’s Breath Yoga Breathing Exercise

Today I'm sharing a pranayama yoga breathing exercise called Lion's Breath. It’s a great one to release tension, stress, and anger as well as boost confidence. Check out this video.

How Lion’s Breath helps release tension, stress and anger as well as boost confidence

You're gonna breathe like a lion so this is a fun one.  I like this one because it's kind of silly.  And silliness iis great because you can’t have tension and be silly at the same time right?  So it works.

Lion’s Breath energizes and has both physical and mental benefits. It stretches the muscles and stimulates the nerves in the face, and releasing tension and improving circulation. It also increases your internal fire. Lion’s Breath opens the Visuddha chakra, an energy centre in the throat, not only boosting confidence and the ability to utilize one’s voice, but simultaneously calming stress and anger in the mind.

How to do Lion’s Breath pranayama yoga breathing exercise

And when you’re doing this breathing exercise, you pushing out and releasing anger and stress.  And being a lion brings out your confidence, so let's try it.

To start, you can simply sit in a relaxed position.  When you breathe in, you can close your eyes, just relax, and breathe in.

And then when you breathe out, this is the fun part.  When you breathe out, you can just do it in a straight up sitting position.  Or the way I like doing it is to go a little bit forward with hands on the floor and then you can really become the lion!

Then what you do is you breathe out.  But you're gonna put your tongue out like this and the eyes looking up and then you go like this. Yes, it's silly but fun  😃

And you can repeat that for about eight to ten breaths.  And I hope I can keep doing it without laughing okay?  So let's try it.

Breathe in and breathe out.  You can really push the breath out.

I don't know how many times I did it.  It's fun.  It's being silly and really fun.  And now I forgot about my anger and stress.  Yes it's going away.  And I'm feeling silly and happy.

And since I’m doing this in a public place, I'm definitely bringing my confidence out!  But it also helps boost confidence when you’re doing your pranayama yoga privately.
